Frequently Asked Questions
What should I know about a private investigator I hire?
Private investigation companies in Virginia must be licensed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and must display their license number on all advertising material and are required by law to have a contract with every client. Individual Private investigators must be registered by the DCJS. Businesses may only employ investigators with a valid DCJS registration.
What do I need to do to hire your services?
You may contact us by telephone or email. The first step is usually a consultation to determine the type of services you need and for us to obtain basic information pertinent to your particular matter. An investigator will review the details of your case, discuss the methods to be employed and answer any questions you may have and discuss fees. You will then be asked to sign a contract (you will be given a copy) and pay the investigative fee. Most investigative companies take payments in advance.
What can I expect after I hire your services and how soon do you start working?
Your investigation will immediately be scheduled and you will be kept informed with periodic verbal reports as the case progresses. Usually, an investigator will begin working on your case as soon as the contract has been signed and investigative fee has been paid. At the conclusion of the investigation you will be provided a detailed report.
Who will you share information about my case with?
All work is strictly confidential. Information is shared only with our employees or operatives who are assigned to work on your case unless we have your express written consent.
